IRIB Regional, Sari – 819 KHz

Just uploaded what I beleive is an ID from the regional IRIB station in Sari, Iran. Please have a listen on it, and if you have  a different opinion – let me know, right?

What else, then? Well, A-index is still quite high: 24, which is way too much for any possible north american stations to get through. However, propagation along north-eastern paths is predicted to be good, so maybe I will have a look for some stations from the Far East in a moment or two.

Added some ground radials to the phased loops earlier this evening. Results seems promising, but I will wait with my verdict until a day or two has passed.

73!

Hans

Update: Thanks to Mauno Ritola for helping me ID this one as the IRIB Regional service for the Mazandaran province, with transmitter site in Sari.

Update #2: And the A-index has dropped from 24 down to 16! Not only that, also the K-index is decreasing: now on a very nice 1!

About Hans

Male. 50 years young. DX:er since 1980. In September 2011 I moved up to Vardø on Vardøya Island (EU-141) to start working as manager for the Coast Radio station in Vardø. I feel very lucky to have this opportunity to work with the thing that I think is the most interesting in the whole world - Radio! My main interest is, yeah - you guessed right: Radio. I'm a ham radio operator, holding the callsign LA2MOA. My main radio interests is low power operation and low band DXing on the amateur bands, but also mediumwave and tropical band DX-listening. I'm also interested in angling, fly-fishing and fly-tying. The area around Vardø offers some great opportunities to do all of this. And, since I'm of swedish origin, I'm also madly interested in ice-hockey and since 35 years I'm a hardcore supporter of Rögle BK in Ängelholm - one of the few really true hockey clubs left in Sweden.
